Why We Love Matcha

Matcha is a high-quality powdered green tea – one of the most prized in the world. It is known for its bright emerald color, delicately sweet taste, and creamy texture. It is the most concentrated of all green teas, as the entire leaf, ground into a fine powder, is consumed.

Traditionally, it is whisked with a bamboo whisk (chasen) into a frothy drink and is believed to have medicinal properties and a calming effect.

Interesting Fact 1:

"Matcha" in Japanese means "ground tea". The word cha means "tea", and ma means "powder". Literally translated - powdered green tea.

It is an integral part of the Japanese tea ceremony, deeply connected to Zen Buddhism. Drinking Matcha is not just a beverage – it is a ritual focused on the preparation, serving, and conscious enjoyment of tea.

Interesting Fact 2:

According to Japanese tradition, Matcha is drunk in three sips.

Interesting Fact 3:

It takes about 60 minutes to grind just 30g of Matcha! The process is slow, requires extreme precision, and is done by hand.

How to prepare authentic Matcha

Its preparation is both simple and an art. The fine green powder is whisked with hot water using a bamboo whisk (chasen) until it becomes smooth and slightly frothy.

For true Matcha, nothing is added – no milk, no sugar, just tea and water.

The production process, however, is much more complex. Only the finest shaded leaves are used, which are dried, destemmed, and ground with traditional stone mills into a fine powder.

Why Matcha is so valued

Matcha is famous worldwide for its proven health benefits.
Because the entire leaf is consumed, it contains up to 10 times more antioxidants than regular green tea.

It helps to:

  • improve brain function

  • support liver regeneration

  • increase concentration and energy

And we love it most of all for its slightly sweet, rich, and frothy taste, which makes it a true delight.

How to prepare Matcha

Matcha is traditionally made in a bowl (chawan) and whisked with a bamboo whisk.
However, you can also use a mini whisk or even a fork.

Method of preparation:

  1. Sift ½ teaspoon of Matcha into a warmed bowl.

  2. Add water at 80–90°C.

  3. Whisk for about 15 seconds until a fine foam forms.

  4. Enjoy immediately!
