How to make green tea – step by step

Green tea is one of the most prized beverages in the world – known for its delicate taste, fresh aroma and numerous health benefits. But to get the most out of every cup, it’s important to know how to properly brew it. In this article, we’ll show you step-by-step how to make the perfect green tea at home.

1. Choosing the right green tea

The quality of the tea is crucial to the final taste.

  • Sencha Green Tea – a classic Japanese tea with a balanced, fresh taste and a slight sweetness.See it here

  • Jasmine green tea – delicate and aromatic, perfect for connoisseurs of floral flavors. Discover it here

2. Tea dosage

For a perfect balance of taste and aroma, follow these recommendations:

  • For loose green tea – use about 1 teaspoon (2-3 g) per 200 ml of water.

  • For tea bags – 1 bag is enough for one cup (200-250 ml).

3. Water temperature

Green tea is delicate and should not be poured with boiling water to avoid making it bitter. Keep the temperature between 70°C and 80°C . If you don't have a thermometer, let the boiled water cool for 5-7 minutes before brewing the tea.

4. Steaming time

The duration of steeping depends on the type of green tea:

  • Sencha and jasmine green tea – 1.5 to 2 minutes.

Steeping longer can make the tea too bitter, so experiment to find the perfect balance.

5. Serving and consumption

Green tea is great both on its own and in combination with honey, lemon or mint. For the best experience:

  • Use a porcelain or glass teapot to maximize flavor retention.

  • Try drinking it without sugar to experience its natural taste.

With the right approach and quality tea, every cup of green tea can become a real pleasure. Browse our rich selection at Momenti and find your favorite! ☕🌿
