The spiciness of classic Irish soda bread is the perfect backdrop for the flavor of our orange chocolate . Combine it with the light sweetness and crumbly texture of a traditional bun, and you have a bun that is perfect slathered with butter at Sunday brunch.

ingredients

Method of preparation

  1. Mix 250 g of flour together with the baking soda, salt, sugar, chocolate and orange zest in a bowl with a fork. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, orange juice, and egg.

  2. Cut and mix the softened butter with the flour mixture until it has the consistency of wet sand or bread crumbs.

  3. Make a well in the flour mixture and pour in the buttermilk mixture. With a fork, combine the two until the dough just comes together, do not knead it.

  4. If it is too wet, add more flour, but not too much. This dough should be sticky and you should be able to touch it with just your hands.

  5. Divide the dough into 6-8 pieces and arrange them on a baking sheet covered with baking paper. Bake for approx. 12 minutes at 200°C hot air oven or approx. 15 minutes at 175°C in a normal oven.
