Chocolate&Love orange chocolate buns recipe
Author: Richard O'Connor
The spiciness of classic Irish soda bread is the perfect backdrop for the flavor of our orange chocolate . Combine it with the light sweetness and crumbly texture of a traditional bun, and you have a bun that is perfect slathered with butter at Sunday brunch.
ingredients
-
250-300 g flour
-
1 hour l. bicarbonate of soda
-
150 ml buttermilk
-
50 ml fresh orange juice
-
1 egg
-
25 g of butter, soften
-
1-2 tsp salt
-
1 tsp sugar, in a bowl
-
25 g chopped orange 55% dark chocolate from Chocolate and Love
-
Peel of 1 orange
Method of preparation
-
Mix 250 g of flour together with the baking soda, salt, sugar, chocolate and orange zest in a bowl with a fork. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, orange juice, and egg.
-
Cut and mix the softened butter with the flour mixture until it has the consistency of wet sand or bread crumbs.
-
Make a well in the flour mixture and pour in the buttermilk mixture. With a fork, combine the two until the dough just comes together, do not knead it.
-
If it is too wet, add more flour, but not too much. This dough should be sticky and you should be able to touch it with just your hands.
-
Divide the dough into 6-8 pieces and arrange them on a baking sheet covered with baking paper. Bake for approx. 12 minutes at 200°C hot air oven or approx. 15 minutes at 175°C in a normal oven.
