The Putharjhora Tea Garden was established over 140 years ago in the Dooars area southeast of Darjeeling and is still privately owned by the family-run Tea Promoters. Due to its interesting location between the foothills of the Himalayas and the flatter plains of the Ganges, the teas are created with the subtle spice of Assam combined with the slightly sweet aroma of Darjeeling. The black teas in particular often form the basis for the traditional Indian spiced tea Masala Chai.
