How to make Flowering Tea
Flowering teas , also known as blossoming teas, are handmade balls of tea leaves and flowers that dissolve when steeped in hot water, resembling the aesthetic of a blooming flower.
These beautiful creations are handcrafted by skilled artisans, mainly in China and other regions of East Asia, and depending on the complexity of the design, creating a single blooming tea can take several minutes, even hours.
Some of the flowers that are often used to make flowering teas are jasmine, lily, hibiscus, Osmanthus, and Gomphrena globosa (immortality flower).
Instructions:
- A glass teapot is necessary to observe the tea blooming process.
- Start by placing the flowering tea in your teapot or cup.
- Heat the water to the appropriate temperature for the type of tea
- Slowly pour the water over the blooming tea and let it steep. During this steeping process, the leaves and flowers will begin to dissolve, and over the next few minutes, the tea will expand into a floral arrangement.
Tips:
Although steeping times vary, it usually takes about 5 minutes to fully bloom and develop aromas.
